Answers:
How long does it take to get started?
It takes about
15-20 minutes. This consists of picking a User Name,
Password, Payment, Membership Information and Alerts.
All other information can be entered at a later time
if the Member chooses.
How do I get my MedFN number and MedFN card?
Your MedFN Number
is an unique alphanumeric number that is assigned
to the Member when joining. This Number will appear
on a card on your screen and is printable right on
your own printer. This printable card will appear
after setting up an account and entering any alerts
and/or allergies. See below an example of a printable
card.
How do I get a new card or change medical alerts and
allergies?
After setting
up an account the Member can login, reprint and/or
change medical alerts and allergies anywhere or anytime.
Who does MedFN recommend to use this service?
Anyone that
wants their critical medical information available
to them anytime and anywhere. Members join for a variety
of reasons that make their life more secure. Travelers
enjoy knowing if everything goes missing all they
have to do is get on the Internet. Children that might
get separated from their parents have MedFN for the
contact information to reach them whether at home
or traveling. MedFN offers something for everyone.
What do the three levels of security offer?
It puts you
in control of who can view your information. The first
level can be viewed by entering a MedFN Number on
the front page of the website. This is typical for
emergency personal. The second level requires the
MedFN Number plus a Privileged Identification Number
(PIN). This level is for information that is not critical
but chooses to be secured at a higher level. The third
level is located on the home page of the website and
requires the Member to login with a User Name and
Password where information that the Member would want
to keep private. This information is for your eyes
only.
Why does MedFN refer to the first level of security as public?
The reason the
first level or emergency level is called public is
not because it is available to just anyone but for
the obvious reason that if you are unconscious you
are not making the decision of who will review your
critical information whether it is a paramedic, police
officer, doctor or other emergency personnel. Also
in the case of a missing child or a person that is
memory challenged, help may come for the general public
by finding the contact person using the MedFN Site
and Number. It is for these reasons that MedFN uses
the word public.
Can a category of information have more than one level of security?
Yes, under each
category you can set each item at different levels
of security including sub items also can have additional
and different levels of security.
What information is encrypted?
All Members
information is encrypted, other websites use encryption
just for credit card information. MedFN views that
all information needs to be secure.
If I am referred to MedFN by a friend with their referral number and there is a special offer can I receive
both extra months?
Yes, you receive both the referral credit and the special offer. MedFN never wants a
special offer to compromise any referrals.
